The Boy Chained to a Radiator Was Waiting for the “Angels With Roaring Wings”
We kicked down the door of an abandoned rust-belt home expecting squatters, but found a seven-year-old boy chained to a radiator with a heartbreaking note taped to his chest.
The heavy steel chain had rubbed his little ankle raw. Empty water bottles and cracker wrappers from the local grocery store littered the dusty floor around him. He didn’t even flinch when six massive bikers in leather vests crashed into the living room.
He just sat there. His green eyes were hollow, staring up at us like he was expecting company.
“Jesus,” my VP, Hammer, choked out. He took a step back, completely horrified.
I knelt down, my knees popping in the quiet room. “Hey, buddy. We’re here to help.” I gently reached for the note duct-taped to his faded t-shirt.
It was written in shaky handwriting. “Please take care of my son. I’m sorry. Tell him Mama loved him more than the stars.”
