After My Wife Died, My Son Tried to Steal My Land—When I Refused, He Trapped Me Inside My Own Home

“That isn’t what I meant.”

“You told me I had no choice.”

Michael gave a short, nervous laugh.

“This is ridiculous. Why would I confine my own father? We had an argument about a piece of real estate. That’s all.”

“Then why is the road blocked?” the deputy asked.

Michael opened his mouth but did not answer.

“If this was a normal disagreement,” the deputy continued, “why did you bring a concrete truck? Why not meet with a real estate attorney or mediator?”

“Because he’s stubborn!” Michael shouted.

The calm image he had been trying to maintain collapsed.

“He refuses to listen to reason. I tried to negotiate. I made him an offer. He wouldn’t even consider it.”

“That does not give you the right to block his road.”

“He’s obsessed with this place!” Michael said. “It’s all he cares about. He doesn’t care about me, my family, or my future. He only cares about this land.”
