I do not know whether Michael and I will ever feel as carefree together as we did before that Monday morning.
But we are trying.
We are speaking honestly.
We are listening.
We are healing.
For now, that is enough.
If someone you love has hurt you in a way you never believed possible, remember that forgiveness and reconciliation are not the same as pretending nothing happened.
Forgiveness does not require you to surrender your boundaries.
Love does not require you to accept manipulation.
A second chance should not be given because someone demands it. It should be built through responsibility, patience, honesty, and consistent change.
Healing takes time.
It requires courage from the person who was hurt and humility from the person who caused the harm.
Not every relationship can or should be restored.
But when remorse is genuine, accountability is accepted, and both people are willing to do the difficult work, a different kind of relationship may still be possible.
