After My Wife Died, My Son Tried to Steal My Land—When I Refused, He Trapped Me Inside My Own Home

A few weeks later, he returned with another proposal.

This time, he said he wanted to buy the land himself.

He claimed he wanted to keep the property in the family. He spoke about building a house there for Jennifer and their children. He said the grandchildren could grow up running through the same woods he had explored as a boy.

On the surface, it sounded almost sentimental.

It sounded like something a loving son might want.

Then he named his price.

I nearly choked on my coffee.

The amount was less than half of what the land was worth. It was not a family discount. It was an offer designed to take advantage of someone he believed would eventually give in.

“Michael, I can’t accept that.”

He leaned back in his chair.

“Why not?”

“You know what this property is worth. I can’t just give it away.”
