I Married a Wealthy Man 30 Years Older Because I Was Tired of Struggling—After His Funeral, His Lawyer Handed Me a Silver Box and Said, “He Made Sure You Got Exactly What You Deserved”

I lowered the page.

Samuel slid a sealed envelope from the leather folder.

“Before the estate documents are read, I am required to inform Mrs. Blackwell that Harrison arranged a medical appointment in her name for this afternoon.”

I stared at him.

“What medical appointment?”

“A prenatal appointment.”

The room became completely silent.

Vivian’s face changed.

“No.”

Samuel looked at me gently.

“Harrison noticed the nausea, exhaustion and changes in your appetite. With your permission forms already on file, he asked his physician to arrange preliminary bloodwork during your hospital examination last week.”

I remembered the nurse taking blood after I nearly fainted in Harrison’s room.

I had assumed they were checking for dehydration.

Samuel continued.

“The results indicate that you are approximately eleven weeks pregnant.”

Lucas covered his mouth.

Grant stared at the table.

Vivian pushed back her chair.

“This is impossible.”

My hand moved to my abdomen.
