MY HUSBAND TOOK HIS MISTRESS TO THE GALA AND LEFT ME WASHING DISHES

He blamed Mavis.

Victor.

Delaney.

The board.

The lenders.

He described me as secretive and emotionally distant.

His attorney asked why I concealed my position.

“I did not conceal it from Bellamy Holdings,” I answered.

“But you concealed it from your husband.”

“I told him I served on the family investment committee.”

“He believed that was a junior role.”

“He never asked.”

“Marriage requires honesty.”

“Yes.”

I looked toward Grant.

“So does fidelity.”

The courtroom became quiet.

His attorney changed direction.

“Did you enjoy humiliating Mr. Holloway at the gala?”

“No.”

“You walked down a staircase in front of cameras wearing family jewels.”

“I attended as chairwoman of the event’s principal corporate sponsor.”

“You could have confronted him privately.”

“He was served publicly because the fraudulent meeting he requested was public.”

“You smiled.”

“Yes.”

“So you experienced satisfaction.”

“I experienced relief.”

“From destroying your husband?”

“From no longer pretending his choices were my responsibility.”
