Not perfectly.
Not dramatically.
Clearly.
In one recording, the attorney asked:
“Mrs. Bennett, are you leaving this land to Nora because you are angry with your children?”
Margaret shook her head.
“No.”
“Why Nora?”
“Because she will think before she spends.”
Then she added:
“And because everybody thinks she’ll stay no matter what.”
“I want her to know staying was seen.”
When Gideon played that clip during mediation, I cried in the hallway.
Not because the case was going well.
Because I missed her.
The trust survived.
Not because the judge declared me morally superior.
Because the documents were valid.
Margaret had capacity.
The transfer had been voluntary.
The safeguards were real.
Daniel and Leah remained furious.
Marcus eventually stopped participating in the challenge.
He called Ethan afterward.
“I don’t like it.”
“But Mom knew what she was doing.”
That was as close to peace as we got.
