The girl agreed, even though she found it difficult to even be around her future husband.
Hundreds of guests attended the wedding. Sofia looked stunning in her white dress, while Victor sat beside her. His enormous stomach barely fit beneath his jacket, his face was glistening with sweat, and an assistant was constantly nearby with his wheelchair.
The guests whispered, not even bothering to lower their voices.
“She sold herself for money.”
“I can’t imagine how disgusted she must feel being next to him.”
Sofia heard everything but said nothing.
When Victor became hot, she brought him some water and gently dabbed his forehead with a napkin.
The man unexpectedly asked:
“Doesn’t it disgust you to touch me?”
Sofia looked at him in surprise.
“You’re my husband.”
After those words, Victor fell silent for the first time that entire evening.
Late that night, they arrived at his mansion.
