I Married a Wealthy Man 30 Years Older Because I Was Tired of Struggling—After His Funeral, His Lawyer Handed Me a Silver Box and Said, “He Made Sure You Got Exactly What You Deserved”

I stood beside Harrison’s casket after everyone else moved away.

My hand rested on the polished wood.

“I would give all of it back,” I whispered. “Even the part I never had.”

After the service, Harrison’s attorney approached me.

His name was Samuel Price. He had served Harrison for more than twenty years.

“Mrs. Blackwell, Harrison left specific instructions concerning the reading of his estate.”

“When?”

“Tomorrow morning at ten.”

“I don’t want anything.”

“I believe he expected you to say that.”

He handed me a card.

Then he lowered his voice.

“He asked me to tell you two words.”

I waited.

“Trust me.”

The next morning, I arrived at Samuel’s office wearing the same black dress from the funeral.

Vivian, Grant and Lucas were already seated around a long walnut table.

Vivian looked at her watch.

“I’m surprised you came.”

“The attorney asked me to.”
