MY HUSBAND TOOK HIS MISTRESS TO THE GALA AND LEFT ME WASHING DISHES

My father survived because a fishing vessel found him before the wreckage sank.

Only six people knew.

For years, he lived under a protected identity while federal investigators followed the money.

Mavis had known the plane crash was not accidental.

She had known Julian survived.

And when I married Grant, she recognized my surname immediately.

She simply believed I knew nothing about the past.

Grant looked toward her.

“Mom?”

Mavis lifted her chin.

“Do not listen to them.”

Julian opened the mansion deed.

“The Palm Beach property belongs to the Bellamy Family Trust. Seraphina permitted the Holloways to occupy it under a revocable family-use license.”

Grant stared at me.

“You let us believe it was ours.”

“You told people you purchased it before I finished explaining the trust.”

“You never corrected me.”

“You enjoyed the lie.”

Mavis pushed toward Julian.

“Victor earned that house.”

“Victor pledged stolen assets against it.”
