“You are the CEO, Adrian,” I corrected smoothly, brushing the imaginary dust off my sleeve where he had grabbed me. “But you do not own the building.”
Adrian frowned, the mocking smile dying on his lips.
“My father’s holding company owns the commercial lease to this property,” I continued, my voice echoing off the marble walls, delivering the truth with surgical precision. “And as of 8:00 AM this morning, while you were in the shower practicing your golf swing in the mirror, my legal team activated the majority-shareholder proxy clauses.”
Adrian’s breath hitched. “What proxy clauses?”
“The ones embedded deep in the original incorporation documents of this firm,” I explained cleanly, as if speaking to a slow child. “The documents I drafted for you fifteen years ago, when you had nothing but a cheap, ill-fitting suit, a mediocre business plan, and my family’s seed money. The documents you were too arrogant to ever fully read.”
