She Shaved My Head to Make Me Quit My Job—Then I Discovered What My Husband Was Hiding

“You wanted me to resign.”

I looked at both of them.

“You wanted me dependent.”

“You wanted me too embarrassed to ask questions.”

“You wanted me so busy serving everyone that I would never look at the numbers.”

Margaret shook her head.

“No.”

“Yes.”

I pointed toward my shaved head.

“You thought humiliating me would make me smaller.”

I touched my scalp.

“But all you did was wake me up.”

Nobody spoke.

I opened my phone.

I had already saved every document.

Every statement.

Every transfer.

Every suspicious transaction.

The loan.

The property agreement.

The forged signature.

Everything.

Then I emailed copies to myself.

Another copy went to a secure storage account.

Another went to someone I trusted.

I wasn’t going to let anyone erase the evidence.

Nathan looked at me.

“What happens now?”

I looked him directly in the eyes.

“Now?”

I smiled.

“Now you finally find out what happens when I stop protecting you.”
