She Shaved My Head to Make Me Quit My Job—Then I Discovered What My Husband Was Hiding

She seemed relieved.

Then I added:

“But I know what I’m not going to do.”

“What?”

“Quit my job.”

Her face fell.

I almost smiled.

Nathan sat down heavily.

I walked upstairs.

I packed a small bag.

Not because I was leaving forever.

Because I needed space.

As I placed clothes into the bag, my phone buzzed.

An email.

I opened it.

It was from the bank.

Subject:

URGENT: PROPERTY FRAUD REVIEW

I opened the message.

The bank had flagged not only the forged loan document…

but another application connected to the property.

A second application.

Submitted under Nathan’s name.

I read the final paragraph twice.

The bank had discovered that someone had attempted to change the ownership structure of the house.

Someone had tried to add another person to the title.

I stopped breathing.

I read the name.

Then I read it again.

It wasn’t Rachel.
